The East of Scotland Amateur Cup Final

Sandys AFC 0 Edinburgh Rose AFC 0 AET

(Edinburgh Rose AFC won 5-4 pen)

Braidwood Motor Company Stadium, Livingston

How this game lasted 120 minutes without a goal will remain a mystery as both teams were geared just to attack without any obvious plans for defence.

Edinburgh Rose were especial adapt with wide players getting forward but the final pass in a frantic game was constantly wasted. So as the game flowed form end-to-end.

we waited for a moment of magic but their was no end product and no one seemed capable of staying calm enough to hurt their opponents.

Much the same in the second half with Carling and McKenzie combining for Sandys but again the final ball was wasted. We also got a response from the Rose before extra time when Raymond Walker came close with a low drive.

Into extra time and with some fresh legs off the bench there was a thought that the energetic Walker could swing the resuly in Sandys favour or even the consistent Jamie Stewart would drive Edinburgh Rose to victory but it was left to the dreaded penalty shoot out to decide the winner.

Nerves and tiredness was soon forgotten and we witnessed an excellent penalty shoot with David Sorley saving James Clarkson effort that left Euan Bissett to convert the fifth and secure the Cup for Edinburgh Rose AFC.
