Joint Response Group Update, Friday 21st August

Please find below the latest update from the Grassroots JRG following the First Minister's announcement yesterday, along with today's statement from the Scottish FA JRG. I have also added a link to the Return to Football Hub as this contains detailed information concerning the guidance and has been updated accordingly.

I am delighted to say that we can now commence contact training from Monday 24th August, subject to implementing the guidance and protocols, and this is the first two steps on our previously issued staged plan for the return of football which has been agreed by the Scottish Government and Sportscotland.

Some key elements of the guidance are as follows:
- The creation of contact bubbles on the pitch. At all other times before and after training, physical distancing must be maintained.

- The number permitted in each bubble will be dependant on the area of the pitch being used and the players cannot interact with another bubble during the session.

- No dressing rooms or showers should be used at this stage.

- Players should arrive separately and ready for training.

- Players should disperse immediately following training.

- A Club COVID Officer must be appointed and a register should be maintained for every session for Track & Protect purposes.

- The previous medical and personal hygiene protocols for “physical distance" training still apply.

I cannot stress enough the importance of ensuring that all member clubs adhere to the guidance as any non compliance, quite simply puts in jeopardy the permission to contact train and of course the other agreed indicative dates for our return to friendly matches and eventually competitions.

As you will know from the news the situation remains fluid and delicately balanced and with a number of countries seeing spikes in their case numbers, it is even more important than ever that everyone in football plays their part to ensure we are able to continue along our staged return plan.

Also as previously mentioned I intend to hold another League Secretary meeting by zoom on Wednesday 26th August at 7pm, to up date you on where we are and what to expect in the next few months, as well as giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have at thistime.

If you are a league secretary, please confirm your attendance asap to 'safa@scottish-football.com'  as per the previous manner, we will issue a meeting invite to you in due course.

Stay safe.
