The Highland Executive Committee who governs the Highland Amateur Cup are delighted to announce the continuation of the competitions sponsorship with MacLeod Independent Financial Advisers from the Western Isles. The new deal will run until 2011, which will mean that when this new sponsorship deal ends, MacLeod IFA will have been involved with the competition for 10 years. The Association areas that are involved in the Highland Amateur Cup covers a large geographical area, therefore travelling distances for teams can be long and costly. Competition secretary Iain Whitehead stated “having a sponsor is vital for the competition, so we are glad to have the continued support from MacLeod IFA. The costs involved in running the competition can be very high due to the vast area that the competition covers. Many people get allot of enjoyment from the competition, be it playing in games or going along to support there local team, so MacLeod IFA’s sponsorship is very much appreciated by everyone”. Roddy Macleod of MacLeod IFA said “he was delighted at the prospect of being associated with such a prestigious competition and although our business is mainly based on the Western Isles, we have benefited greatly from being associated with the Highland Amateur Cup. The Highland Amateur Cup has delivered quality football throughout the Highlands for many years and it provides a great opportunity for teams to test themselves against sides from different areas in the Highlands”. He also said it was good to see the possibility of a new name going on the cup this year and as ever he is looking forward to attending this year’s final. This year’s final will be an all Caithness affair as local rivals Castletown and Pentland United contest the final which will take place this Saturday 9th August 2008. The game will be played at Wick Academy’s Harmsworth Park with a 3pm Kick Off.
