Fancy your team being on TV?
Added On:5/14/2008

I've been in discussions with a TV company about making a national TV ad for Scottish Hydro-Electric who are looking for two amateur teams to take part in a one-day shoot.

I'll post the details they sent me below but first I'll put in some other background information which you should consider BEFORE contacting them. In fact, I would prefer if anyone who is interested contact me FIRST as I can give you some guidance/advice on it and maybe help you get more from it.

Some points to note;
- they are looking for Glasgow (ish) based teams, they will provide pickup transport
- the day includes food etc
- they will provide 'wardrobes' meaning shirts/shorts but bring your own boots etc and backup kit
- expect it to be a FULL day which you have to commit to
- you don't need to be skillful as you're just in the background but expect you might have to kick a ball about for several hours while the camera crew dot ehir thing
- the TV ad is being done by a BIG well-known director and has a BIG budget
- each player will get £65 (?) each or the team gets a full donation (£700?) ... talk to me about this please as I would advise a few things in this regard
- as I expect not every team can field a full squad mid-week due to work commitments I would suggest that Glasgow(ish) associations try and put a team together from a few clubs ... the only stipulation being is that the players should kindof know each other and get on ok and will have to play together ... so for example, Glasgow Sunday might be able to raise a team possibly from a league?
- the money isn't great but is enough for an interesting day kicking a ball and may benefit your club and/or you.

Here's the letter below;

Hi there,

I am contacting you from a Television Production company in Glasgow called MTP. We are filming a TV commercial for a large Scottish power supplier in May and are looking for two Glasgow-based football teams to be extras for the shoot.

We need two sides of 11 between 20 and 35 years old.

If successful you would be paid for your involvement by either a donation to the club or individual payments per player.

You would have to be available for filming in Glasgow on either the 27th or 28th of May. You would not be needed for both days.

We are filming in a couple of weeks so time is of the essence.

Any clubs or individuals interested should email reception@mtp.co.uk or call 0141 332 0589 ASAP!

Many thanks,

Christopher Quinn
