St. Mungo Keeper for Hampden
Added On:5/16/2008

AN experienced goalkeeper is set for one of the biggest games of his career when he takes part in a special challenge match at Hampden Park later this month.
Stuart Robertson is to represent Scotland against a Rest of the World team in the Football Aid charity game on Saturday, May 31.

The 48-year-old goalkeeper, who currently plays for St Mungo in the Scottish Amateur Caledonian League, has enjoyed a memorable career at a host of clubs including Rob Roy, Clyde, Airdrie, Partick Thistle, Clydebank, Stenhousemuir, Cumnock and Kilwinning Juniors.
However, he told Herald Sport that the opportunity to play at Hampden alongside some former professional players will be one of the highlights of his career.

Stuart said: "It should be a great occasion and I'm really looking forward to it, especially as the match is being played at such a famous ground.

"Each team will include two former professionals, although I'm still waiting to find out who will be in the Scotland side.

"However, in the past the likes of Danny McGrain, Gordon McQueen and Gary McAllister have taken part, so it will be a high standard.

"I'm an estate agent with RE/MAX, and I'm grateful to them for agreeing to sponsor me to allow me to play in the match. I'm counting down the days until the game.

"It is something I'm sure I will remember for the rest of my life."
