Results (Sunday 26th November 2017)

The opening rounds of the Inter League Trophy were played on the synthetic surface at Dalziel Park with 1pm & 3pm kick offs.
With plenty of playing talent on show, the Scottish Amateur FA Select Manager Bruce McNaught, and his management team attended, spreading themselves around in their constant search for players or “Diamonds” as Bruce calls them.

Also in attendance was the Vice President of the Association Stuart Urquhart and the Chairman of the International Committee David Ramage, who also doubled up as Secretary of the Lothian & Edinburgh Select along with Executive members of the various Associations and Leagues.
Special thanks to the Shetland AFA and players is also called for given their long trip to compete in the competition, which by all account they enjoyed.

Also thanks to John Riordan and Dalziel for their hospitality and use of their fine facility, Colville Park Social Club and staff for after match hospitality and all the match officials, team managers and players who took part on the day.

Strathclyde Saturday Morning AFL 2 Glasgow Colleges AFA 4

All the drama surrounded this game with Strathclyde Saturday Morning AFL taking an early lead for the penalty spot before the Glasgow Colleges AFA equalised in the 34th minute. But more drama in the closing minutes of the half when the Strathclyde Saturday Morning AFL looked the more likely only for the Glasgow Colleges AFA to get back on level terms were once again back on level terms just before the break.

However, the Strathclyde Saturday Morning AFL men contributed to their own downfall into the second period. Awarded another penalty just before the hour mark left disappointed when the effort was easily save by John Ferguson (St Davids AFC) then they failed to take advantage when the Colleges went down to ten men after Paul McElroy (St Davids AFC) saw Red.
In the end it would be the Colleges who persevered with another two goal late in the game to sweep them into the next round.

Ayrshire AFA 2 Shetlands AFC 0

Shetland AFA put on a good shown against a solid Ayrshire AFA select. While the Shetland AFA had the better of possession the Ayrshire AFA men stood their ground and were proved lethal with goals from Ryan Wilson 35 minute & Kieran Patterson in the 50th minute.

Caledonian AFL 1 Central Scottish AFL 3

This game drew plenty of attention and while the Caledonian team started looked the busier in the opening spell their attempts on goal are best described as frantic. Meanwhile, the Central played in a more composed mode and were rewarded with three rapid goals going into the final seven minutes of the first half.

First, Christopher Craig (Colville Park E) slotted home a left foot shot before changing to his right for his second. Then, John Neil (Wishaw HSFP) manage to find the target from an impossible angle for his teams third.
Into the second half the Central contained their opponents with some comfort thought they got some consolation in the 80th minute with video evidence proving that the ball was forced over the line by Jack Stickler (Possil YM & CSAFL player).
