A partisan crowd were not deprived of excitement or drama on a day both teams played their heart out. Within two minutes of play the Glasgow side went ahead from the penalty spot with Robert Davison converting with ease.

However, harvester responded 12 minutes later when George McGregor fired  high into the net, his thundering shot giving Brian Paton, the Vogue keeper no chance.  It now looked like “game on “ but the Rutherglen increased the pressure and win another spot kick that was again convert, by Davidson.

The next action nearly brought a third but Wilson drew applause with a great save,  but he was unable to stop a low angled drive from the impressive Thomas Quinn that went in at the back post.

The Vogue looked settled  as the game e break than a rash moment allowed the men from the East back into contention. Brian Paton came off his line but failed to connect and there was Brian moore with the presence of mind to find the unguarded goal from distance.

The second half started in dramatic fashion, we had hardly taken out seats when yet another penalty award when the Harvester keeper brought down Quinn and there was Captain Davison hammering home for a remarkable hat-trick and more or less securing the cup for hs tea,

The rest of the game was an exercise in playing out time before as players got weary after so much effort.

The victory wen to Rutherglen Vogue for the first time and Thomas Quinn picked up the man-of –the-match awardto end a perfect Glasgow side.
